Creston Police: Creston man charged with assault, felony drug possession

Susan R. Lemon White, 57, of Creston, was taken into custody May 22 on North Mulberry Street on the charge of driving while revoked.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:54 p.m. White was observed driving a 2012 Suzuki SX4 on Townline Street. White is known by officers to have a revoked driver’s license.

A traffic stop was conducted and White was confirmed to be revoked.

White was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Mauricio A. Trejos Castaneda, 27, of Creston was taken into custody May 21 on the charge of disorderly conduct - abusive epithets/threatening gesture.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:50 p.m. Trejos Castaneda stared at a driver who was traveling on Highway 34, raised his hand and gestured toward them with his right hand as if he were holding a gun. The victim stated they felt it was intended as a threat toward them.

Trejos Castaneda was located by officers and matched the clothing description given by the victim. He admitted to being in the area but not to making the gesture. The victim provided a written statement and requested charges be filed.

Trejos Castaneda was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance after his initial court appearance.

Ella N. Hornyak, 20, of Kent, was taken into custody May 25 on the charge of assault causing bodily injury.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:09 p.m. Hornyak and a juvenile victim got into an altercation on Adams Street. During the altercation, Hornyak slapped the victim and the two began struggling with each other, causing scratch marks on the chest and finger of the victim.

Hornyak was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

James D. Michelson, 33, of Creston, was taken into custody May 24 on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense; harassment, first degree; possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, first offense.

According to Creston Police reports, at approximately 6:48 p.m. officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 400 block of North Poplar Street. The victim stated Michelson hit them in the head and threatened to kill them if they touched his belongings.

Michelson had left the area prior to officers arrival but was later located and taken into custody. During a search of his person, THC wax and a smoking device containing residue was located in his pants pocket.

Michelson was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $8,300 cash or surety bond.

Lorie A. Stoneberger, 60, of Creston, was taken into custody May 20 on Laurel Street on the charge of theft, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:38 p.m. Stoneberger was seen shoplifting at Walmart by employees. Stoneberger was found to be in possession of unpaid items valued at $177.96. She admitted to taking the items to law enforcement.

Stoneberger was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Shyanne R. Bird, 30, of Creston, was taken into custody May 23 at Howard and Birch streets on the charge of driving while barred.

According to Creston Police reports, at approximately 5 p.m. Bird, who was known by officers to have a barred driver’s license, was observed driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. A traffic stop was conducted and Bird was confirmed to be barred.

Bird was cited and released on summons to appear.
