Austin J. Worthington, 27, of Adel, was taken into custody 11:39 a.m. Jan. 21 in Adair on the charge of theft, fifth degree.
According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 10:22 a.m. a Dollar General employee notified police a customer had stolen an iPhone XR from a delivery driver and it was observed on security cameras. Officers observed the security footage which showed a male, identified as Worthington, walk past the phone, which was laying on top of a box, several times, before taking it and putting it in his sweatshirt pocket.
Officers, assisted by Adair County Sheriff’s Office, went to a residence in the 2000 block of White Pole Road and made contact with Worthington, who was wearing the same clothing he was observed wearing in the store security footage. When told he was seen on camera stealing a phone, Worthington immediately asked if he could just give it back. The phone was retrieved by law enforcement from Worthington’s car.
Worthington was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Taylor M. Boucher, 35, of Redfield, was taken into custody 12:40 p.m. Jan. 22 on an Adair County warrent for the charge of theft, fifth degree.
According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 5:36 a.m. Jan. 2, a theft at Kum and Go was reported by employees. Security footage showed a male and female, later identified as Boucher, enter the store. The male went to the clothing section and was observed putting a shirt and sunglasses in his pants and Boucher was observed filling a drink at the fountain machine. The two immediately left the store, without paying for any items, and were seen getting into a red 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and driving away.
Adair Police posted photos of the suspects on Facebook to get assistance from the public in identifying them. A citizen identified Boucher from the post. Boucher’s drivers license photo was then verified against the store footage and found to be the same person. Boucher is also the registered owner of 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.
Boucher was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $300 cash bond.

John E. Robitaille, 60, of Orient, was taken into custody 9:50 a.m. Jan. 25 on the charge of sex offender - registration violation, first offense and a Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Police Department warrant for the charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
According to an Adair Police report, Robitaille was convicted of three sexually based offenses in Rhode Island, all requiring him to register as a sex offender as a lifetime requirement.
It was discovered Robitaille had been a resident of Orient since July 2023 but had not registered on the Iowa Sex Offender registry as required.
Rhode Island authorities received notification from Robitaille in 2014 he would be moving within the state and provided his new address. After a check of both his previous residence and the new address provided, Robitaille was never located.
Robitaille was transported to the Adair County Jail where he is being held on $2,000 cash or surety on local charges and without bond on the Rhode Island warrant.

Todd E. Ross, 59, of Minburn, was taken into custody 7:50 p.m. Jan. 26, at 170th Street and Highway 25 on the charge of OWI, second offense.
According to an Iowa State Patrol report, at approximately 6:02 p.m., troopers observed a 2020 Ram traveling 67 mph in a 55 mph southbound on Highway 25. A traffic stop was initiated and while approaching the truck, the driver’s door opened and a can of beer fell onto the ground. Inside the truck, on the driver’s side floorboard was beer, still foaming from being spilled.
Troopers detected the odor of an alocholic beverage coming from Ross’s person. Ross refused most field sobriety testing and PBT. He was transported to the Adair County Jail, where he refused the request to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. Ross has a previous OWI conviction in 2022 in Polk County.
Ross was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jaime E. Cruz Perez, 22, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 1 a.m. Jan. 27 on Interstate 80 westbound on the charges of OWI, first offense; providing false identification information, no valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, failure to provide proof of financial liability and open container by driver over 21.
According to an Adair County report, at approximately 12:12 a.m., a two-vehicle accident was reported near the 79 mile marker. A semi was hit by 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited, the 200 then went into a ravine on the north side of the interstate.
When deputies arrived at the scene, contact was made with the driver of the 200, who was still in the vehicle. Initially, the driver first claimed to be his brother and provided a false date of birth to law enforcement and EMS. In the driver’s wallet an ID was located, identifying the driver as Perez. An open container of beer was observed on the driver’s floorboard.
Perez had a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his person and impaired balance. Perez was transported to the Adair County Jail, where field sobriety testing was completed and Perez showed signs of impairment. A PBT provided a BrAC of over .08%.
Perez was released from the Adair County Jail after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.
