Creston Police arrest report - June 13, 2024

Abel Olivera Martinez, 40, of Creston, was taken into custody June 11, in the 800 block of South Walnut Street on the charge of violation of no contact/protective order - contempt.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:25 p.m. officers responded to a child welfare check call. While speaking with the adults at the residence, it was discovered the adult female was named as a protected party in an active protective order against the adult male, identified as Olivera Martinez.

Olivera Martinez was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance after seeing the magistrate.

Nicholai Q. McVay, 19, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:17 p.m. June 12, in the 800 block of West Adams Street on the charge of assault.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:30 p.m. McVay was at his parents home. While he was downstairs, his parents were arguing upstairs, causing McVay to go upstairs. Once there, he attacked his mother. McVay pulled her hair, ripped her clothes and scratched her in the face. According to another family member, the argument had subsided by the time McVay went upstairs.

McVay was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.
