Marvin E. Metzger

Marvin Metzger, 87, of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena with burial in the Massena Center Cemetery. A luncheon will be at the church following the burial. The Lamb Funeral Home in Massena is in charge of the professional arrangements.

Marvin Eugene Metzger was born on Aug. 14, 1936, the son of Roy and Irene (Kordick) Metzger in Jackson Township of Adair County. Marvin grew up and lived his entire life in Adair County. He farmed with his father with horses until the 70s.

Marvin was a handyman, carpenter and was always willing to help a neighbor in need. He enjoyed photography and telling stories. He especially enjoyed helping his friend,Gene Van Vleet, with his outfitter hunting expeditions in Wyoming.

He entered the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle in 2014 and later moved to the Greenfield Manor in 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Joseph and Rose Kordick and John and Matilda Metzger and LaDonna Burg.

He is survived by his cousins and many friends.
