Eriberto Matamoro Cosme, 32, of Osceola, was taken into custody May 10 on the charges of OWI, first offense and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and driving under suspension
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:56 p.m. a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu was observed westbound on Highway 34 without headlights or taillights. A traffic stop was conducted at the Abell Street intersection.
Contact was made with the driver, identified as Matamoro Cosme, and the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Matamoro Cosme admitted to drinking two or three beers prior to the stop.
Matamoro Cosme consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. A PBT indicated his BAC to be over .08%. During the course of the stop, Matamoro Cosme also gave officers consent to search the Malibu. During the search, an open tequila bottle was found in the center console and a rolled marijuana joint in the door handle of the driver’s door. Matamoro Cosme said he got the joint from a dispensary in Missouri.
Matamoro Cosme later consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of the test indicated his BAC to be .114%. It was also discovered his driver’s license status was suspended.
Matamoro Cosme was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Michael D. Crigger, 37, of Greenfield, was taken into custody May 9 on the charge of OWI, second offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:39 a.m. a 2015 Chevrolet 1500 was observed westbound on Highway 25 with a brake light out. The Chevrolet was weaving within its lane and litter was seen being thrown out of the driver’s window.
A traffic stop was initiated, but the vehicle did not stop or slow down initially. It continued traveling at approximately 55 mph until it finally pulled over at Highway 25 and the Summit Lake boat ramp. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Crigger, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
Crigger said he was driving poorly because he was texting. While he collected the paperwork requested by officers, an open Busch Light was observed upright on some clothes behind the driver’s seat. He admitted to having a few beers prior to being stopped but said he had his own breathalyzer and had recently used it and it showed he was under the legal limit.
Crigger consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. He refused a PBT but later consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of which indicated Crigger to have a BAC of .103%.
Crigger has a prior OWI conviction May 12, 2023, in Union County.
He was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Levi D. Capp, 47, of Urbandale, was taken into custody May 10 on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charges of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.
According to Union County District Court documents, Capp was ordered to appear May 1 in court for pretrial conference on the original charges and did not.
Capp was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $1,000 cash-only bond.
