Ringgold County: Four arrested on contempt charges

Michael J. Cooley, 20, of Afton, was taken into custody April 26 on a Ringgold County warrant for the charge of violation of a no contact/protective order - contempt.

According to a Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 11:30 p.m. April 9, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Cooley’s parent stating Cooley was at the residence of a protected party in no contact order against Cooley, threatening to harm himself.

Prior to the arrival of law enforcement and EMS, Cooley’s parent made contact with Cooley again and was told that it was the protected party who had attempted to harm themselves.

Deputies made contact with the protected party, who told them they had not made any threats or attempts to harm themselves. They admitted Cooley had been at the residence drinking before they got into an argument. The protected party stated Cooley then called his parent demanding a ride and during this conversation, Cooley was pacing back and forth holding a large knife in his hand, threatening to harm himself before being picked up by a family member.

The knife was located on a living room table and slash marks were observed on the front door. The protected party admitted to having an active no contact order against Cooley.

Cooley was later seen in Afton by law enforcement but ran before he could be questioned about the incident.

Cooley was transported to the Ringgold County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Matthew W. Lingerfelt, 49, of Diagonal, was taken into custody 8 p.m. April 27 at his residence on a Ringgold County civil warrant for the charge of failure to appear - contempt.

According to a Ringgold County District Court document, Lingerfelt failed to appear for a scheduled judgement debtor examination March 30.

Lingerfelt was transported to the Ringgold County Jail and held on $2,500 cash-only bond.

Aaron J. Mangum, 40, of Earlham, was taken into custody 9:30 a.m. April 28 in Diagonal on a Ringgold County warrant for the charge of failure to appear - contempt on the original charges of willful injury causing bodily injury and criminal mischief, third degree.

According to Ringgold County District Court documents, Mangum was ordered to appear in court April 27 for a pretrial hearing on the original charges and did not.

Mangum was transported to the Ringgold County Jail and held on $7,000 cash or surety bond.

Olivia C. Henry, 22, of Mount Ayr, was taken into custody 10:20 a.m. April 28 on a Ringgold County warrant for the charge of violation of a no contact/protective order - contempt.

According to a Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 11:30 p.m. April 9, admitted to drinking at her apartment with a subject with whom she has a no contact order against.

Henry was transported to the Ringgold County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance on a promise to appear.
