Accident: A two-vehicle accident causes $15K in damages

No citations were issued in a two-vehicle accident Monday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:10 a.m. a 2022 Turt Terra Transit Southern Iowa Trolley vehicle, driven by Laryl Vandenberg, 70, of Creston, was backing up to the north to turn around and leave a driveway on Cottonwood Street.

While it was backing up it struck a 2014 Ford Fusion that was legally parked in the driveway.

Damage to the trolley was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the Fusion was estimated at $1,000.

A Creston woman was cited Monday after failing to stop at a stop sign causing a two-vehicle accident.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:58 a.m. a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Tracey L. Gray, 62, of Prescott, was leaving the True Value parking lot after waiting its turn to go at the four-way stop.

As the Jeep pulled into the intersection to continue south on Sumner Avenue, it struck a 2018 Subaru Impreza, driven by Jeanne L. Steele, 50, of Creston.

The eastbound Subaru did not stop at the flashing red light and posted stop signs and drove into the path of the Jeep. Steele was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device.

Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $5,000 and damage to the Subaru was estimated at $10,000.

One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:58 p.m. a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Holly J. Simpson, 44, of Creston, was eastbound on Montgomery Street, at the same time a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Linda L. Keller, 77, of Creston, was westbound on the same street. Both vehicles were stopped at stop signs at the Elm Street intersection.

As the Pacifica proceeded through the intersection, the Equinox began to make a left turn onto Elm Street and hit the Pacifica. Keller told officers she was blinded by the sun and did not see the other vehicle.

Both parties complained of pain and were checked out by EMS at the scene. Keller was transported to Greater Regional Health by ambulance.

Damage to the both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
