Police Line

Anna A. Swartzlander, 39, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was taken into custody 3:02 a.m. April 14 on the charges of OWI, first offense, interference with official acts and escape from custody.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:25 a.m. a 2013 Fiat was observed pulling into a driveway near Montgomery and Jarvis where officers were responding to a residential burglary call. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Swartzlander, who had the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from her person, bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

Swartzlander admitted to having two glasses of wine earlier but did not believe she would be over the legal limit. She consented to field sobriety testing and showed numerous clues of impairment. A PBT showed Swartzlander to have a BrAC over .08%.

While being taken into custody, Swartzlander resisted arrest. After being handcuffed, she slipped her hands out of the double-locked handcuffs and attempted to run from officers before she was forcibly taken to the ground. Swartzlander then refused to walk and was drug by officers to the patrol unit where she was forced into the backseat.

She later refused to provide a breath specimen and also refused to sign the specimen refusal.

Swartzlander was transported to the Clarke County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,300 cash or surety bond.
