May is a month defined by milestone celebrations and heartfelt recognition. In our district, educating a child is a collective effort made possible by the dedication of ALL our staff and volunteers. They truly go the distance, serving as the “superheroes” of our schools. From the bus drivers who provide the first morning greeting to the staff who feed, supervise, engage and care for our students throughout the day, these individuals are the heartbeat of our community.
The impact of our staff’s hard work is most visible in our students’ success. This month, we are proud to announce that 122 seniors will receive their diplomas on Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. as they join the ranks of Creston alumni. I am fully confident that these young adults are prepared for whatever journey they choose next.
In addition to celebrating our graduates, May is School Board Recognition Month in Iowa. We take this time to honor the citizen leaders who serve our district. Our board members take on complex challenges and make the difficult decisions that shape the future for every student and family in our community.
We are incredibly grateful to our five dedicated members:
● President Don Gee
● Vice President Dr. Amanda Mohr
● Dr. Brad James
● Kathy Thorne Ralston
● MaKenzi Vonk
By setting the vision, establishing policy and overseeing the budget, they ensure our district stays focused on what matters most-student success.
I am incredibly proud of our students, staff, and the entire Creston community for fulfilling the “Public Education Promise.” Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
