Creston Police: Two Creston residents arrested for driving while high

Brooke E. Zollman, 30, of Bedford, was taken into custody 10:27 p.m. April 24 at Livingston Avenue for the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, Zollman was operating a 2008 Dodge Ram while her driver’s license was suspended.

Zollman was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

Gregory C. Cook, 60, of Creston, was taken into custody April 25 at his residence on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:40 a.m. a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was observed weaving within its lane. The Silverado also drove on the double yellow centerline and crossed the center of the road on Smith Street.

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Cook, as he pulled into his residence. Cook made statements about knowing he “swerved a little bit.” He was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage coming from his person.

Cook admitted to having eight to 10 beers prior to being stopped, and when asked if that could have contributed to his swerving, he said said, “it might have been.” On a scale of one to 10, with 10 being drunk, Cook said he felt he was a five.

Cook consented to two field sobriety tests and showed numerous validated clues of impairment. A PBT showed his BrAC to be over .08%. He later consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result of showed his BAC to be .134%.

Cook was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Lela A. Churchwell, 47, of Creston, was taken into custody April 25 at Mills and Division streets on the charges of public intoxication and interference with official acts.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:44 p.m. a resident in the 200 block of North Division Street reported an unknown female, later identified as Churchwell, had walked into their apartment and began screaming.

While in the area, officers observed Churchwell laying in the grass behind an apartment. It was determined Churchwell had walked to a different apartment building, entered the community laundry area and then entered the reporting party’s apartment.

While officers were speaking with others, Churchwell was instructed to sit in a chair, but she refused and attempted to enter her residence. She was observed to have difficulty standing without assistance, smelled strongly of alcohol and had thick, slurred speech.

Churchwell refused a PBT. Once at the law enforcement center, Churchwell refused to get out of the patrol vehicle, causing officers to physically remove her from the car and escort her into the elevator before she was released to jail staff.

Churchwell was released from the Union County Jail on her own recognizance on a promise to appear after seeing the magistrate.

April M. Roberts, 39, of Mount Ayr, was taken into custody April 25 on the charges of OWI, first offense; possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense; two counts of possession of a controlled substance, first offense and driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:48 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2005 Ford F250, after officers observed Roberts, who was known to have a suspended license, driving the truck.

Contact was made with the driver, confirmed to be Roberts.

Roberts admitted to having drugs in the truck and further admitted to using methamphetamine and marijuana earlier in the day. During a probable cause search, police located methamphetamine, Xanax and hydrocodone.

At the law enforcement center, Roberts consented to field sobriety testing and showed some clues of impairment. ARIDE testing was also completed and Roberts showed signs of drug impairment. A PBT showed her BrAC to be .000%.

Roberts consented to an evaluation by a DRE. As a result of the evaluation, it was concluded Roberts was impaired. A urine sample was requested and provided by Roberts to be sent to the lab for analysis.

Roberts was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $4,300 cash or surety bond.

Shaeina L. Allison, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody April 29 on a Union County warrant for the charges of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense; possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and a controlled substance violation.

According to Creston Police reports, a search warrant was conducted at 506 N. Birch Street, where Allison resides. During the search of the residence, .87 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and packaging materials were located in Allison’s room. Allison was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

A consent search of another resident’s cell phone uncovered texts between Allison and another individual showing Allison and the other person conspired to deliver approximately 85.75 grams (3.06 ounces) of methamphetamine over at least 17 different occasions between Dec. 5, 2025, and Jan. 26.

Allison was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $27,000 cash or surety bond.

Megan M. Brown, 45, of Creston, was taken into custody April 29 at Pine and Summit streets on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, second offense; possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:14 p.m. officers observed Brown operating a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Brown is known by law enforcement to have a suspended driver’s license.

A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, confirmed to be Brown.

A search of Brown resulted in officers locating a marijuana pipe containing marijuana residue.

Brown was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,600 cash or surety.

Zeven M. Lemon, 20, of Creston, was taken into custody April 30 on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:52 p.m. March 27 an Oldsmobile Regency was stopped at Pine and Townline streets for multiple equipment violations. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Lemon, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, dilated pupils and was visibly nervous. Lemon’s speech was mumbled and thick-tongued and he appeared to have cottonmouth.

During the stop, officers observed a tube labeled “marijuana” in plain-view in the backseat of the car. The tube contained a 1-gram marijuana joint.

Lemon admitted to smoking marijuana approximately an hour earlier. On a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the highest, Lemon ranked himself at a four.

He consented to field sobriety and ARIDE testing and showed numerous clues and indicators of impairment. Lemon later consented to provide a urine sample for chemical testing which was sent to the DCI Lab.

On April 20, the toxicology report was received by Creston Police and showed a positive screen for marijuana metabolites.

Lemon was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
