Creston hosts football skills academy

Program geared to grades 4-8

Football skills academy announced at Creston.

The inaugural Southern Iowa Football Skills Academy has been announced on five Monday evenings starting June 22 at Creston High School football field.

The camp for participants in grades 4-8 (2026-27 school year) is designed to help youths build confidence, improve fundamentals and compete in football. Varsity coaches working with the youths will be Ryan Victor of Mount Ayr, Skip Echhardt of Nodaway Valley, Creston head coach Brian Morrison and Creston offensive coordinator Garrison Carter.

Position focus will be quarterback, offensive line, running back, wide receiver and tackling.

Sessions will be held 6-7:30 p.m. on June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13 and July 20.

“This camp was created to allow young athletes to learn the game the right wayt through director, skill-focused oaching fronm some of the top coaches in southern Iowa.” said Carter, one of the co-organizers. “Athletes will receive high-rep instruction, position-specific coaching, individual skill development and and fundamentals that translate to Friday nights.
