Kuemper wins team title

Creston's Ricci Johnston, shown putting in a home dual meet against Mount Ayr, led Creston at the Hawkeye Ten Conference tournament with an 18-hole round of 100, placing 22nd.

COUNCIL BLUFFS — By the thinnest of margins, Kuemper Catholic girls captured the Hawkeye Ten Conference golf tournament championship Tuesday at Whispering Woods Golf Club.

The Knights shot 367, edging Shenandoah (368) and St. Albert (369) for top honors. The entire top five was within nine strokes of the title, as Lewis Central took third at 371, followed by Clarinda (376).

Creston placed 11th with a score of 452. Ricci Johnston finished 22nd among 65 golfers with an 18-hole round of 100. Johnston had an eagle three on the par-5 sixth hole.
