DENISON — Only two strokes separated the top three teams in a tightly-contested Hawkeye Ten Conference boys golf tournament Wednesday at Majestic Hills Golf Course.
Kuemper Catholic won the team title at 321 strokes and Braxton Vonnahme of the Knights was medalist with an 18-hole round of 74. Shenandoah was second at 322 and Atlantic shot 323 in third place.
Cade Neve of Harlan was runner-up medalist with a 77. Creston had one all-conference performance in placing seventh as a team with 366 strokes.
“Marshall Long was 12th place shooting an 80, despite a double-bogey on his last hole,” Creston coach Steve Shantz said. “A par on the last hole would have placed him in the top seven on a tough Majestic Hills course. The greens were hard and fast and were trouble for a lot of players.”
Kylen Parsons was second among the Panthers with a 93.
Creston travels to Knoxville May 13 in Class 3A sectional play.
