CORNING — Creston grabbed another team win Monday afternoon in a dual with Southwest Valley, coming out on top 7-2.
Losing only at the top-end of the seeds, the Panthers posted wins in No. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles as well as No. 2 and 3 doubles. Two of them were forfeits.
“It was nice to go out and get another win tonight in our dual with Southwest Valley,” coach Kevin Cooper. “They only had five players tonight, we altered our lineup so each player on our team got a chance to play. It is a great experience for some of our younger players to get as many matches as possible.”
Even in the top singles match, senior Wesley Wires went 14 games with junior Jordan Bruce, falling 8-6.
Senior Tim Bartlett won another close one, this time 8-5 over Brody Sparks. Senior Carson Beer and Junior Dylan Dornack both beat their opponents 8-1.
Ben Rushing shut out Connor Weatherly 8-0 while Malachi Webber received a forfeit in No. 6 singles.
Rushing and Webber teamed up for No. 1 singles, falling 8-1 to Bruce and Sparks while Wyatt Hitz and Adam Thompson defeated Henry Means and Weatherly 8-3.
Monday the Panthers host Chariton at SWCC for senior night.
