Mustangs top Panther boys

Hawkeye Ten meet next for Creston tennis

The Creston boys tennis team closed the regular season Thursday in a 7-2 home loss to Shenandoah.

Damion Meyer picked up the Panthers’ lone singles win with an 8-4 triumph in the No. 6 position. At No. 2 singles, Creston’s Gavin Millslagle was in a long battle with Mustang freshman Lucas Sun and Sun prevailed, 8-6.

The Creston duo of Lucas Rushing and Carson Cooper was victorious at No. 2 doubles by an 8-5 score.

“Today was a perfect night for tennis,” Creston coach Kevin Cooper said. “Shenandoah is a good team, and still relatively young. We weren’t consistent enough to get the meet win. We had some good matches throughout the lineup. It’s hard to believe but this wraps up our boys regular season. Our next event is the Hawkeye Ten on Monday for our varsity.”
