A 20-year-old Colfax man was charged with an OWI after being involved in a one-vehicle accident May 16.
According to Union County Sheriff’s Office reports, at approximately 12:12 a.m. a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Gavin Q. Sharp, was eastbound on Highway 34 near 205th Street. Sharp failed to navigate a curve, lost control of the Cobalt and left the roadway to the east of the curve.
The Cobalt went through the ditch and continued north through a field for several hundred feet before coming to rest.
Sharp was checked and cleared by medics. A breath specimen indicated his BAC to be .187%, over nine times the legal limit for a driver under the age of 21.
Damage to the Cobalt was estimated at $2,000 and damage to the field was estimated at $500.
