Kaitlyn M. Hess, 24, of Stuart, was taken into custody 3:29 a.m. May 11 in the 500 block of South Park Street in Greenfield on the charge of domestic abuse assault, second offense.
According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 9:25 p.m. May 10, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Stuart residence. When they arrived, they were told the female suspect, identified as Hess had already left.
A victim at the residence said Hess had intentionally damaged some of the victim’s property and had urinated on the victim’s driveway. The victim provided a video recording where the victim can be heard telling Hess to leave. Audio of what sounded like a door being forcefully shut twice and the victim screaming in pain after each time was also provided. Hess then said something to the effect of “Good, I’m glad it hurt.” The victim said their arm was in the doorway when Hess intentionally shut the door on it twice. Officers observed a mark on the victim’s arm consistent with the statement.
Hess has a previous domestic abuse assault conviction within the last two years.
Hess was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance on a promise to appear.
At 11:30 a.m. May 15, Hess was again taken into custody after turning herself in at the Adair County Sheriff’s Office on an Adair County Warrant for the charge of violation of probation.
According to Iowa Department of Correctional Services reports, Hess was convicted of assault with bodily injury or mental illness and received a deferred judgement with one year probation Feb. 23.
Hess is said to have violated the terms of her probation on May 13 when she was charged with domestic assault abuse in Adair County. Hess has also not completed a court-ordered class or treatment.
Hess was transported to the Adair County Jail and held without bond until her initial appearance in Adair County District Court.

Mason M. Thompson, 26, of Johnston, was taken into custody 4:37 a.m. May 11 at mile marker 92 of Interstate 80 on the charge of OWI, second offense. He was additionally cited for careless driving.
According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 3:03 a.m. the Stuart Chief of Police was transporting a prisoner on Interstate 80 when he observed a 2010 Ford Edge that was all over the road, traveling at a dangerously low speed and had almost hit the center cable barrier. The chief initiated a traffic stop, which was taken over by another officer.
Contact was made with the driver, identified as Thompson, who said he had left the east side of Des Moines and was headed to Johnston. He had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. When asked to exit the vehicle, it was apparent Thompson was having difficulty maintaining his balance. Thompson told officers he had drank too much.
Thompson refused field sobriety testing and a PBT. After being transported to the Adair County Jail, Thomson refused to provide a breath specimen for testing.
Thompson has a prior OWI conviction from April 17, 2021, in Polk County.
Thompson was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Shannon L. Quigley, 35, of Adair, was taken into custody 8:40 p.m. May 15, at Stuart Road on the charge of OWI, first offense.
According to an Adair County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 6 p.m. a female with a flat tire was reported to be on Stuart Road. The reporting party believed the female was intoxicated.
Deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with the female, identified as Quigley, who was in the driver’s seat of a 2010 Mercedes-Benz. While speaking with Quigley, she was observed to have slurred speech and the odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from her person. There was damage observed to the front of the Mercedes. Quigley stated she had hit a road sign. She also admitted driving the vehicle while attempting to travel from Winterset to Adair. It was later determined Quigley had struck the road closed sign at 130th Street and Stuart Road.
Quigley consented to field sobriety testing and showed clues of impairment. She refused a PBT. After being transported to the jail, Quigley provided a breath specimen for chemical testing, the result of which indicated her BAC to be .151%.
Quigley was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Steven E. Feick, 63, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 7:17 p.m. May 16, in the 1800 block of 240th Street in Fontanelle on the charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury.
No details were available on the charge.
Feick was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash-only bond.
