Trevor F. Kinkade, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody at approximately 10:25 p.m. Friday May 8 at the intersection of Levy and Sycamore streets on the charge of OWI, second offense.
According to Union County Sheriff’s reports, a traffic stop was conducted on a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe for a traffic violation. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Kinkade, noticing slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. Deputies also smelled a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Kinkade’s breath.
When asked how much he had to drink, Kinkade said, “some,” admitting to drinking since 10 a.m. Kinkade consented to some field sobriety testing, during which he showed validated clues of impairment.
A PBT indicated his BAC to be over 0.08%. Kinkade later consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of the test indicated his BAC to be .174%.
Kinkade has a previous OWI in Union County from February 2015.
