Lindsay Cornick, 44, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:20 p.m. June 2 on the charge of OWI, first offense and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 5:30 p.m. officers observed a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Sumner Street cross the center line and nearly strike the southbound officer’s patrol vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with the driver, identified as Cornick, who was lethargic, slow to respond, had slurred speech and difficulty keeping her eyes open. Cornick admitted to smoking marijuana in the past 24 hours and stated she is prescribed Xanax.

Cornick consented to field sobriety testing and ARIDE tests, during which she showed significant signs of impairment. She admitted to having a vape pen containing THC in her purse, which officers located and seized. Cornick was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where she refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.

Cornick was taken to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Conner Larkin, 18, of Creston, was taken into custody 3:03 a.m. June 3 in the 100 block of West Union Street on the charge of disorderly conduct- fighting or violent behavior.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to an Adams Street location for report of a male pulling a knife on another individual. While enroute, officers were advised the suspect had ran south, across the train tracks. Officers in the area located two individuals, identified as Larkin and a juvenile female, hiding behind grain bins. BNSF contacted law enforcement and advised another individual was in the waiting shack by Elm Street. When the individual was located, he ran from officers and was caught as he unknowingly ran toward another officer.

Officers spoke with the victim who stated he was riding his bicycle when two males began yelling at him and chased after him. During the interaction one male, identified as a juvenile, pulled a knife on the victim while Larkin continued to yell at him and attempt to corner him while the juvenile with the knife was moving toward his back. The victim said he attempted to defend himself and scare the suspects by throwing his food and then his bike toward them. He was able to get away and contact law enforcement.

Other parties involved told similar consistent accounts of the incident. The knife was recovered by law enforcement.

Larkin was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond. Larkin was also cited for person under 21 using a tobacco or vapor product, first offense.

Sheri Watters, 43, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:45 a.m. June 3 at Vine and Lucas streets on the charge of public intoxication, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, a female, identified as Watters, was observed by officers carrying an open beer bottle while walking in an alley near the intersection. When asked about the beer, Watters admitted to drinking. Watters consented to a PBT test, which provided a result of .07% BAC.

Watters was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Ellen Quintanilla, 34, of Lenox, was taken into custody 8:15 a.m. June 3 at Vine and Fremont streets on a Union County warrant for the charges of controlled substance violation and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 3:45 p.m. June 1, officers conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Ford F150 on Manor Drive near Lincoln Street. Creston Police K9 Baxo assisted and provided a positive alert on the truck for presence of narcotics.

During a probable cause search of the truck, the passenger, identified as Quintanilla, was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. After being read her Miranda Rights, Quintanilla admitted packaging materials (small plastic jewelry bags) and a digital scale were hers. A small canister was located in the center console containing one white pill, identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate, a Schedule 2 controlled substance and a small blue pill, identified as Alprazolam, a Schedule 4 controlled substance, both of which Quintanilla admitted to possessing.

Quintanilla was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was released from after posting $12,000 cash or surety bond.

Rory Davis, 19, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:43 a.m. June 3 at Vine and Lucas streets on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of probation on the orginal charges of criminal mischief and violation of a protective order.

According to an Iowa Department of Corrections report, on Sept. 22 Davis was sentenced to two years probation on the original charges. As part of his probation agreement, he is to obtain and maintain employment and pay court and supervision fees. Davis has not been employed since probation began and has made one payment of $10 toward his supervision fee and one payment of $376.68 toward court fees. Davis has made little progress on court ordered condition and has failed to address substance abuse issues through treatment services, has missed numerous scheduled probation meetings, has been charged with violation of a no contact order and has tested positive on more than one occasion for use of illegal narcotics.

Davis was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $4,300 cash or surety bond.

Brenda Still, 50, of Creston, was taken into custody, 12:07 a.m. June 5 on the charge of domestic abuse assault, second offense.

No further details were available on the arrest.

Still was transported to the Adams County Jail and held without bond until seen by a judge.

At 12:39 p.m. June 1, Ethan Graham of Creston, reported between 1-5 a.m. someone broke into his room in the 300 block of South Sumner Street and took two pairs of Jordan shoes and a XBox One.
