David Cortez Valenzuela, 24, of Lenox, was taken into custody 8:46 p.m. April 28 on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Union County report, a 2018 Ford F150 was stopped by deputies after it was reported as suspicious and as being occupied by teenagers consuming alcohol. The driver, identified as Valenzuela admitted to drinking and was ran through field sobriety testing, displaying multiple clues of impairment during and prior to testing. He was transported to the Union County Law Enforcement Center where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing, the results of which indicated a BAC of .152%.

There were three other occupants, they had not been drinking. Three rifles and a handgun were found in the truck and seized, an investigation is on-going.

Valenzuela was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Beau Boswell, 24, of Tingley was taken into custody May 1 on three Union County warrants for the charges of failure to appear on the original charges of attempted burglary, second degree; criminal mischief, second degree; use of a dangerous weapon while in commission of a crime and reckless use of a firearm creating property damage; the second for failure to appear on the original charge of theft, second degree and the third for failure to appear on the original charges of burglary, second degree; criminal mischief, second degree and theft, fourth degree.

According to Union County District Court documents, Boswell was ordered to appear for pretrial conferences in three cases April 28 and did not appear.

Boswell was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until his initial court appearance.

Brooke Carter, 32, of Creston, was taken into custody May 1 on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of driving while barred.

According to Union County District Court documents, Carter was ordered to appear in court for a pretrial conference on the original charge and did not.

Carter was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $2,000 cash only bond.

James Jones, 55, of Creston, was taken into custody April 27 on a Union County warrant for the charge of violation of probation on the original charges of domestic abuse assault and tempering with a witness.

According to a Department of Correctional Services report, Jones was granted a suspended prison sentence Jan. 21, 2022, after being convicted of the original charges, and allowed to serve three years of probation. According to the report filed April 26, Jones violated the terms of his probation by the following: Jones has made no required payments toward court or supervision fees, been a no-call/no show to six probation appointments, has not obtained employment, was removed from the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program for excessive absences and was arrested April 25 in Union County for theft, fifth degree.

Jones was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond.
