On June 14, 1970, Dean was united in marriage to Myrna H. Bjorland at the Creston Reorganized Latter Day Saint’s Church. From this union came three children – Douglas, Dayna and Daniel.

Dean worked at Boyd’s Appliance, GET Plastics, returned to Boyd’s then worked at Midwestern Diskette. He later managed the apartment complex of Green Valley Apartments. There were few things that Dean couldn’t fix. He loved the challenge of different work, next working at Amusement Mgt. repairing games in Atlantic, and at the Creston Plaza Apartments. The last endeavors that Dean put his hands and mind to were Southwestern Community College, Gits Manufacturing, Bunn-O-Matic and Fareway.
