Diane was born on Dec. 26, 1957, to Richard and LaDonna (Pannkuk) DeYoung in Storm Lake. She attended school in both Grinnell and Tama before graduating from Creston High School in 1976. She then went to Des Moines Area Community College in 1980, graduating with a degree in dental assisting.

Diane married the love of her life, Terry, Sept. 12, 1981, in Creston. They lived in Ankeny from 1981-1987, where they had their daughter, Staci, in 1984 and son, Brett, in 1986. The family moved to Laurens in November 1987. Diane stayed home with her kids and worked part time at her family’s bank. After Terry retired in 2021, they moved back to Creston.

While she enjoyed rocking peacefully on her “lanai” overlooking East Lake Okoboji and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, she loved being with her four grandchildren even more. She cherished watching over them in Creston, Spirit Lake, the Iowa State Fairgrounds or at one of their many games or performances.

Diane is survived by her husband, Terry; daughter, Staci (Tim) Rourke of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Brett (Laura) Latham of Urbandale; grandchildren: Bridget and Pierce Rourke and Allison and Bennett Latham; brother-in-law, Larry (Nancy) Latham of Creston; sister, aunt, uncle, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her mother, LaDonna; father, Richard; brothers, Ricky and Douglas; parents-in-law, John and Dorie Latham and brother-in-law, Gerry.
