Mark Paxon, 62, of Ocoee, Florida, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at his home.

Mark Paxson, 62, of Ocoee, Florida, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at his home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by Theodore J. Martens Creston V.F.W. Post #1797. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston, at a later date. Visitation, with family receiving friends, will be 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, before the service.

Mark Edward Paxson, was born March 24, 1961, the son of Dean Edward Paxson and Arlene Louise (Richards) Paxson, in Iowa City. Mark was educated in Creston schools, where he graduated with the class of 1979. After graduation he joined the Air Force and then joined the Army and between the two military branches, served a total of 10 years. After his time in the military, he came home to Creston where he honed his skills as an automotive technician.

Mark settled in Winterset for a short time before moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In 2000, Mark moved to Ocoee, Florida. Mark worked as an automotive technician, primarily with Chevrolet dealerships. In his free time, he enjoyed raising chinchillas and Pekingese dogs. Mark was known for being very handy with computers and being an active administrator in many Facebook groups. Creston Iowa Photos Old & New and Creston, Iowa- Rants, Raves & Reviews are a couple of those groups. Through these facebook groups, Mark renewed old and made a lot of new friendships.

Mark is survived by his siblings: Pam (Jerry) Hall of Creston, Danny Scott of Afton, Luke Paxson of Creston, and Deanna (Jim) Flynn of Lineville; his nieces and nephews: Roxanne Walter (Kevin Webb) of Creston, April Hughes of Creston, Jesse (Jessica) Shade of Afton, Tracy (Kevin) Giles of Creston, Jason Keller (Shanna) of Creston and Kevin Hall of Creston; along with many great-nieces, -nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dean and Arlene Paxson; two sisters, Debbie Bauer and Brenda Shade; brother-in-law, Mike Shade and nephew, Timothy Allen Keller.
