Gwynethe Jane Willets was born Aug. 21, 1931, to Howard Eugene Carson and Gladys Mildred (Lake) Carson on the family farm in Nevinville. She attended and graduated from Orient High School in 1949.

Gwynethe was united in marriage Jan. 16, 1950, to Lowell Elmer Willets in Kansas City, Missouri. They first settled in Orient where they welcomed a son, Jack. They briefly lived in Webster City before settling in Creston. They soon welcomed two more sons, Chris and Dan.

As co-owner of Willets and Woosley Sewer and Septic Service, Gwynethe took care of the books for the family business for many years. However, her most important jobs she took on were being an active mother, wife and homemaker.

In her and Lowell’s free time, the two enjoyed square dancing across the country, as Lowell was the caller for many of these dances. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston, the Iowa Square Dance Association and the Union Squares.

Gwynthe is survived by her three sons: Jack L. (Jill) Willets, Chris A. Willets and Dan E. Willets (Tammy Hance), all of Creston; a sister, Mary Ann (Alvin) Schlapia of Creston; sister-in-law, Kaye Carson of Huxley; seven grandchildren: Dawn (Kevin) Madison, Chace Willets, Ciera (Bryce) Wood, Dustie (Scott) Evans, Audrey Burton, Trey Burton and Brady Burton; along with three great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Willets, Izzie Wood and Salem Wood.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Lowell, in 2008; a brother Ronnie (Kay) Carson; and her two sisters, Charlene (Harold) Ingraham and Angie (Jim) Kuhns.
