Mary Keeler, 83, of Creston, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. The service will be livestreamed at a link under events at www.powersfh.com. The burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston at a later date. Visitation, with family receiving friends, will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Mary Ilene Keeler was born Sept. 9, 1940, daughter of Wilson James Coleman and Lela Ella (Campbell) Coleman in Prescott. Mary graduated from Prescott Community High School in 1958. On Sept. 14, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Gene Keeler in Prescott. They settled in Creston where she worked as a homemaker. She later worked at Berning’s Cafe followed by office work at the Creston Water Department. Mary loved to garden and in earlier years was active in bowling leagues in the area.

Mary is survived by her children: Gloria (David) Ross of Ankeny, Jodie Keeler of Creston, Wayne E. (Cheryl) Keeler of Creston, Jennifer (David) Goodson of Creston, bonus son, Doug (Di) Miller of Creston and daughter-in-law, Coleen Keeler of Creston; one sister, Ella McGinnis of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, John Coleman of Creston; sister-in-law, Barb Coleman of Corning; 18 grandchildren: Mindy Keeler (Jordan Evelyn), Lela (Randy) Terpstra, Tony (Sheena) Keeler, Scott (Linda) Keeler, Wesley Keeler Jr., Sara Keeler, Daile Keeler, Darin (Kara) Hatfield, Brian (Hannah Bock), Bridget Ballard, Judy (Blake) Gunter, Wilson (Brooke) Keeler, Victoria (Justin) Edwards, Wade Keeler, Kelsey (Curtiss) Bird, Matthew Rouh, Jacob Goodson and Britian Miller; 26 great-grandchildren: Emma, Kami, Jacob, Lincoln, Grace, Jaydan, Jackson, Jersey, Keiley, Weslynn, Hallie, Faith, Zoie, Nikki, Drake, Caleb, Charity, Austin, Lauren, Ryan, Aliemae, Braylen, Collins, Jax, Kaedon and Kalleigh and numerous extended family members.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Keeler in 2014; a son, Wesley Keeler Sr. in 2015; a grandson, Brenden Keeler in 2001; a brother, Chris Coleman; two sisters, Nancy (Leo) Sheriff and Shirley (Forrest) Johnston; a brother-in-law, Dale McGinnis and sister-in-law, Myrna Coleman.
