Linda D. McGuire

Linda “Diane” McGuire, 69, of Thayer, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. Celebration of Life Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge Street in Afton. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, south of Thayer. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.

Linda Diane (Rawlings) McGuire was born June 29, 1954, to Veral Richard and Darlene (Wells) Rawlings in Holton, Kansas. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in Royal Valley, Kansas. In 1973, Diane married Tim Bishop in Holton. They lived and worked out of Creston. Diane worked for Wellman Dynamics beginning in 1974. Diane and Tim divorced in 1990.

On May 24, 2005, Diane married William R. McGuire in Creston. They settled on a farm southwest of Thayer. Diane continued to work at Wellman Dynamics doing various jobs, retiring in 2017 as an inspector. Diane especially loved being involved with her grandkids, when she was able.

Survivors include her husband Bill McGuire of Thayer; daughter, Jennifer (Danny) Willams of Afton; son, Casey McGuire of Thayer; daughter, Shelby Bishop (Shawn Fenton) of Creston; four grandchildren: Kacie (Zack) Schafer, Dakota Williams, Kayleann (Nathan) Buchanan and Jake Hoyt; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Martin Rawlings and Kevin Rawlings, both of Holton, Kansas, and Richard Rawlings of Mayetta, Kansas; sister-in-law, Joann (Mike) Duckworth of Creston and three brothers-in-law: Richard (Patty) McGuire of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David (Rita) McGuire of Thayer and John McGuire of Thayer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Jim and Bonnie McGuire; son, Jeremy Bishop in 2013; sister-in-law, Angie Rawlings and brother-in-law, Ray Vogel.
