Creston man caught after pursuit

A 20-year-old Creston man was arrested June 26 in Adair County after a high-speed chase started in Union County.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, Isaiah Lovell is facing charges related to the pursuit and a Polk County warrant. He was found in rural Adair County after leaving the vehicle.

At about 3:30 p.m., Union County informed Adair County a Creston Police officer was in pursuit of a 2003 red Ford F150 pickup was approaching the Adair County line near Williamson. After about 2 miles into Adair County, the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch near the intersection of 230th and Gibbon Avenue. The suspect left the vehicle.

Multiple law enforcement agencies attempted to locate the suspect including the use of a drone and K9, but were not successful.

At 10:45 p.m., Adair County received reports of a male person matching the suspect’s description near residences north of Williamson. Adair County law enforcement responded. Another call to Adair County was about the suspect knocking on a resident’s door. Deputies entered the driveway of a residence on Fontanelle Road and the suspect left again on foot, but was eventually caught.

Creston Police, Afton Police, Union County Sheriff, Adams County Sheriff, Cass County Sheriff and Iowa State Patrol all assisted in the search. There were no reported injuries.
