Valkyries fourth at Audubon Invite

SWAT goes 2-1 last week at Missouri Valley

AUDUBON — The SWAT girls wrestling team finished fourth Saturday at the Audubon Wheeler Invitational, scoring 116 points. Central Lyon/GLR won the 20-team meet with 167.

Stella Beattie of CAM remained undefeated with three falls on her way to the 170-pound title. At 115 pounds, Nodaway Valley’s Destiny Fry reached the finals with two pins before losing to Audubon’s Macy Rasmussen.

Two Valkyries earned third-place finishes. At 110, CAM’s Nadia South split her first two matches by fall and secured third with another pin. Megan Gerlock of CAM followed the same pattern at 190, rebounding from an early loss to win her third-place match by fall.

Bailey Lillard of CAM finished fourth at 145, and Nodaway Valley’s Addi Glade placed sixth at 105.

SWAT goes 2-1 in Missouri Valley

At a meet in Missouri Valley last Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Valkyries finished 2-1. They beat ATU (AHSTW/Tri-Center/Underwood) 42-24 and Oakland Riverside 42-30 before falling 42-30 to Missouri Valley.

Against ATU, Erin South of CAM (140) and Lillard (145) each recorded quick pins. Head-to-head wins against Riverside included a 36-second fall by Jelina Gutierrez of Nodaway Valley (125), along with falls from South, Lillard, Lilly Barber, Beattie and Gerlock.

Fry, Beattie and Glade each earned falls in the loss to Missouri Valley.

SWAT wrestled Tuesday at Southwest Valley and returns to action Friday in a tournament at Oakland Riverside.
