Creston Police: Creston man charged after threatening three individuals with a hammer

Rey S. Saturno-Hernandez, 19, of Creston, was taken into custody 7:43 a.m. Feb. 27, in the 900 block of West Summit Street on the charge of public intoxication.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 7:36 a.m. a 911 call, was received from the 900 block of West Summit Street. When officers arrived in the area they observed a vehicle from an earlier call in regards to an intoxicated male, identified as Saturno-Hernandez.

A relative of Saturno-Hernandez waved down officers and told them Saturno-Hernandez had jumped out of the car and was hiding in the woods.

Saturno-Hernandez was located near a fence line with his shirt off and minor cuts all over his body from running through the woods. He had a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and body and had difficulting maintaining his balance and speaking. A PBT indicated his BrAC was .194%.

Saturno-Hernandez was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released on his own recognizance after being seen by the magistrate.

Lester G. Franke, 60, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:10 p.m. Feb. 28, in the 300 block of North Street and charged with three counts of harassment, first degree.

According to a Creston Police report, while holding a hammer Franke threatened three individuals on North Street by stating he was going to beat them with the hammer.

Franke was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $6,000 cash or surety bond.

Colleen A. Reed, 50, of Prescott, was taken into custody 2:51 a.m. March 1, at Highway 34 and Smith Street on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:53 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2014 Chevrolet Impala after it failed to dim its high-beam lights as it passed by officers. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Reed, who appeared very nervous.

Reed admitted she had come from a friend’s house where marijuana had been smoked but said there was nothing in the car.

Creston Police K-9 Olga was deployed for a free air sniff and gave a positive alert to the presence of the odor of narcotics coming from the Impala. A probable cause search was conducted and two marijuana bongs were located in the trunk of the Impala as well as crystalline substance on the driver’s floor mat. The substance later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Reed was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,300 cash or surety bond.
