CROSS COUNTRY: Two medal for Wolverines in WCV meet

Nodaway Valley’s Jazz Christensen was seventh in the girls race and Malachi Broers placed 14th in the boys race to lead their respective cross country teams in the West Central Valley Wildcat Invitational Thursday, Aug. 31 in Redfield.

Christensen ran a 25:49. The race was won by Kuemper Catholic’s Marie Dea, who finished in 22:31.71.

Also in the girls race, Annika Nelson placed 26th in 29:23.29 and Kaylee Van Horn was 30th in 30:38.49.

In the boys race, backing up Broers’ finish was Bryar Hudson in 21st with a time of 21:22.92. Paul Kading was 27th (21:59.37), Tyler Cooper 30th (22:20.46), Haden Colton 37th (23:16.47), Luke Kading 40th (23:42.24), Sam Miller 44th (24:18.06) and Jack Jensen 72nd (26:57.41).

In other area results, West Central Valley’s girls were led on their home course by Taitlin Koch’s second place finish in 23:32.29. Dallas Morgan (15th, 27:40.53), Alayna Cather (44th, 32:57.75), Cadence Heilman (48th, 33:18.48) and Ashlynn Foster (57th, 35:42.13) rounded out the top 5 runners for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats were paced on the boys side by Cael Hazen, who finished 28th with a time of 22:01.51. Cadyn Guisinger (50th, 24:43.79), Connor Light (62nd, 26:00.01), Kiernan Hutton (74th, 27:15.72) and Collin Darrah (77th, 27:58.92) were the next four fastest for WCV.

Nodaway Valley was scheduled to run Tuesday, Sept. 5 in a meet at Lakeside Golf Course outside Winterset but hot conditions forced the postponement of that meet until Thursday.
