The Nodaway Valley High School Student Council sponsors several Red Cross Blood Drives throughout the year and the group’s next blood drive is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 in the high school gym.
“We have one blood drive in each season. It probably takes five or so students per shift, and we have different shifts throughout the day. ,” said NV senior Naomi Daugherty, one of the event organizers. “Being involved in this really helps with responsibility and helping others. It’s something easy to do to help the community and help people give blood.”
The need for community members to give blood is high. As a chapter, student council has goals the Red Cross sets for them to meet for units donated.
“I feel like there’s a big need for donating blood,” said Paisley Kintigh, another NV senior student council member volunteering with the blood drive. “They always say there’s a big need during the holidays. I think it’s very important and it is very easy to do.”
