Mary Carson, 75, of Creston died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.

Celebration of life services will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. John Rutz will officiate. Memorials are to Creston Animal Rescue Effort. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Mary Elizabeth Carson, daughter of Dean Arthur Darrow and Jean Lucille (Acker), was born July 10, 1941, in Fontanelle. Mary graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School.

In August 1972, Mary married Dean Theodore Carson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. They settled in Creston where she worked for Strauss Ladies Clothing as a retail associate, and later worked at Cablevision. She also worked for Bunn-O-Matic on the line and Wellman-Dynamics as a part of the foundry production line. Finally, she worked on the production line at Ferrara Candy Company until her retirement in 2006.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mary is survived by her husband Dean Carson of Creston; daughter Jodi Fagen of Huxley; son Jerry (Vicki) Carson of Des Moines; sister Sue Thompson of Leon; grandchildren, Jason Jungst of Elkhart, Jamie Jungst of Slater, Travis (Amber) Jungst of Slater and Garrett Fagen of Huxley.; step-grandchildren, Julie Malcom of Mount Ayr and Rhonda Evans of Diagonal; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sharon (Merlyn) Linthicum and brother-in-law George Thompson.
