Norwalk police nab wandering kangaroo

NORWALK (AP) — Norwalk police say they have captured an escaped kangaroo.

The Des Moines Register reports that police received a call Tuesday night about a kangaroo that was wandering around Norwalk. Police quickly captured the animal and transferred it to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Police say the 3-foot-tall animal is owned by a man in Norwalk. The owner told police he originally wanted to keep the kangaroo as a pet while living in a rural area. But he said those plans fell through and he was keeping the animal in a pen in Norwalk until he could sell it online.

The man said he recently sold the kangaroo to someone in Nebraska.

Police say it’s legal to have a tame kangaroo in Norwalk.
