SWCC names new chief financial officer

Southwestern Community College’s difficult search to replace their chief financial officer (CFO) is finally over.

Randy Cook will join the college’s management team as CFO starting Sept. 29, replacing Teresa Krejci.

She recently accepted a position with Drake University in Des Moines as the Associate Vice President of Finance. Krejci served as SWCC’s CFO since 1997.

“We were fortunate to be able to hire someone with Randy’s experience and qualifications,” Southwestern’s President Dr. Barb Crittenden said.

Cook has more than 27 years of public accounting experience and has been SWCC’s auditor with Draper, Snodgrass, Mikkelsen & Co. for the past 14 years.

“His experience auditing the college will give him a head start in the position,” Crittenden said.

Cook is a 1982 graduate of Creston High School and a SWCC alumni. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1987.

He has been employed as an audit manager by Draper, Snodgrass, Mikkelsen & Co., P.C. since 1994.

His professional affiliations include being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.

“Southwestern has continued to grow and expand through the years, making it a major asset in our region,” Cook said. “I look forward to playing a role in the future growth of the college.”

Cook and his wife Joni have three sons, Ryan, Kaleb and Jacob. He has been an officer with the Creston Chamber of Commerce, a member of Salem Lutheran Church and currently serving as Endowment Fund treasurer.
