David Lewis Ahrens, 58, and Adam Charles Ahrens, 30, both of 303 N. Spruce St. were charged 8:17 p.m. Wednesday at their residence, each for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were asked to assist a Department of Human Services worker at 303 N. Spruce St. There had been an allegation of illegal drug usage there while a child was present. Officers met with Adam Ahrens and conducted a consent search. Upon finding a large jar full or a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in a bedroom Adam Ahrens identified as his, Adam Ahrens revoked his consent to search any further. A search warrant was applied for and granted. Officers seized numerous pipes used for ingestion of marijuana, bags and the jar of marijuana. Adam Ahrens had a previous conviction of possessing a controlled substance in 2004. After finding the pipes and marijuana, David Ahrens made the statement to officers the items were his property.

David Ahrens was released on $1,000 bond, and Adam Ahrens was released on $2,000 bond.

Gay Anne Auten, 52, of Lenox was charged in Dallas County on a Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals warrant for second-degree fraudulent practice.

According to an Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals report, while employed by Rural Family Therapy Services of Afton Auten submitted false documents to her employer that were used as the basis for submitting claims to Medicaid that were paid. The false documents were submitted between July 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011. These false documents stated Auten performed services when she had not actually performed the services documented. The total value of the false claims Auten caused to be submitted to Medicaid is $3,804.32.

Auten was released on $5,000 bond.

Keegan Wayne Williams, 15, 108 S. Sumner St., was referred to juvenile authorities 1:29 p.m. Aug. 1 for fifth-degree theft.

He was released to his mother.
