Panthers win three at Carlisle

CARLISLE — The Creston volleyball team got on the winning track Thursday in three non-conference matches at Carlisle.

The Panthers opened with a 21-16, 21-9 win over Oskaloosa and followed with a dominant performance over West Marshall, 21-10, 21-12. The night ended in a 21-15, 15-21, 15-10 victory over Carlisle.

“The girls met their goal tonight,” Creston coach Naomi Sharp said. “They came in wanting to get all three and did just that. They played up and down, but overcame and got the wins. I thought our defense stepped up in the Carlisle game. I was proud of their tough play.”

Braylee Pokorny had four slolo blocks and Avery Staver had 26 digs to lead the Panther defense. Hollynn Rieck had a team-high 19 kills. Jaycee Hanson added 15 kills. Hanson and Rick were also active in the back row with a combined 40 digs. Kadley Bailey ended with 41 assists and served four aces. Avery Staver served six aces.

The Panthers (3-1) travel to Shenandoah Thursday in Hawkeye Ten play.
