ATLANTIC — Rick Carter of Creston, representing Crestmoor Golf Club, repeated as Super Senior Division champion at the annual Tournament of Champions Aug. 11-13.

Carter shot even-par 207 over three rounds at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club. Carter won the title last year in a one-hole playoff after shooting 212. His 18-hole rounds this year were 67-71-69 on the par 69 course.

Ron Pendegraft of Creston, representing Lenox Three Lake Municipal Golf Course, placed 19th among Super Seniors at 75-86-91 — 264. Eric Brown of Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club tied for 12th in the Senior Division at 82-78-77 — 237.

Zach Christianson of Atlantic was the overall champion with a 15-under score of 192 to set a course and tournament record. Christianson’s rounds were 62-59-71.

Representing Crestmoor Golf Club, Matt Haley tied for 15th at 77-70-67 — 214 and Michael West tied for 32nd at 74-80-70 — 224.

Pickleball tournament

A local group of pickleball players is hosting a pickleball tournament at McKinley Park courts during Balloon Days weekend.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. with arrival and warm-up at 12:15 p.m. Registration fee is $40 per team with a 20-team maximum in both divisions — mens and mixed doubles. (All-female teams are allowed in mixed doubles.)

TV partnerships

BOONE — The Iowa High School Athletic Association is excited to share expanded coverage of its championships starting in 2025-26 alongside new television tournament partners.

In addition to free streaming through the IHSAA’s website, dozens of tournament event dates will appear across multiple platforms through arrangements with Gray Media, Marquee Sports Network, Mediacom and Nexstar.

“Our debut broadcasts this fall will be a major step forward for easy and accessible coverage of IHSAA championships,” IHSAA executive director Tom Keating said.

These tournament partners will provide multiple options – over the air, over the top and cable – for interested viewers. Through IHSAA-contracted video productions, the selected networks, channels, and apps of each tournament partner will feature events across seven sports and nine sites in the 2025-26 athletic year.

The tournament partners available to viewers in this region include WHO of Des Moines, WOWT of Omaha, Mediacom MC22 and Marquee Sports Network. Events on OTA partners from Gray and Nexstar (such as WHO and WOTW) will primarily feature on Dash/Dot channels.

This arrangement includes football semifinals Nov. 12-15; wrestling dual finals Feb. 7; swimming state meet Feb. 13-14; traditional state wrestling semifinals Feb. 20; state baseball quarterfinals and semifinals March 9-12; track and field state meet May 21-23; soccer state semifinals June 3-5; state baseball all rounds July 20-24.
