Panther girls end golf season at regionals

CARROLL — Two Creston girls finished their golf seasons Wednesday in Carroll at the regional contest.

Senior Averi Culbertson scored 109 while freshman Ricci Johnston put up a 114.

“Averi Culbertson, who will continue her golf at SWCC, shot a 59-50-109 in her last high school competition,” coach Steve Shantz said. “She had a rough stretch from hole 18 through 3 but played better after hole 4.”

Johnston put up an impressive improvement to finish her freshman campaign.

“Ricci ended her freshman year finishing 16 strokes better than conference at the same course last week,” Shantz said. “Her chipping and putting were an important practice component for her and it showed in her improved scoring.”
