Panthers complete track regular season

LEON — Monday the Panthers completed their last regular season track meet at the Central Decatur Invitational in Leon.

The girls won the invite with 124 points and 11 top-three events and seven winning events.

Finishing first were: Cora Smith (26.65) in the 200-meter dash and (1:00.19) 400m; Payton Davis (5:24) in the 1500; Kadley Bailey (16.19) in the 100m hurdles; the 4x800 (10:21.53); distance medley relay (4:31.05) and the shuttle hurdle relay (1:09.8).

In these events, Bailey set a new PR in her leg of the shuttle hurdle relay, running 15.72. Smith’s 400m time was also her personal best, just shy of going below one minute.

Other top finishes included Hope Henderson’s silver in the 800m, running a 2:29.77, a new personal best. Jaycee Hanson took second in the discus with a mark of 97-04.

In the 100m hurdles, Karter Clayton finished third in 17.11.

The sprint medley relay placed second behind Lenox in 1:59.46.

The boys finished fourth, one point behind Mount Ayr. Chariton took the invite win.

The boys had eight top-three events including three individual winners.

Seth Gordon was the only running event to win as he placed first in the 100 in 11.29.

Tom Mikkelsen and Brayden Schoon won the shot put and discus, respectively.

Finishing in second was Gordon in the 200 and Wyatt Goodenberger in the 1600.

Bronze went to the distance medley relay, 4x100 and Mikkelsen in discus.

The Panthers compete Thursday at Glenwood for state qualifying.
