Long finishes second in tiebreaker

CLARINDA — Friday the Creston boys golf team traveled to Clarinda where they fell 151-167.

The team was led by junior Marshall Long who shot a 36, tying with Cardinals freshman Jac Fine for first.

Long lost on the second playoff hole, falling to second.

“Marshall had plenty of opportunities but could not make some short putts,” coach Steve Shantz said. “He is hitting the ball well, and look for good things coming up in our late run.”

Creston freshman Brandon Spencer shot a 40, placing fifth.

Sophomore Garrett Troutwine earned eighth with a score of 42.

Juniors Chasse Downing and Kylen Parsons scored 49 and 50, respectively, to place 10th and 11th.

The Panthers played at Red Oak Monday and will attend the Atlantic Invite today.

Creston hosts the Hawkeye 10 golf meet Wednesday starting at 9 a.m.
