Former Panthers wrestle in open tournament

Former Creston Panthers who wrestled in the Worthington Open Saturday are from left, Triston Barncastle of Ellsworth Community College, Kaden Street of Morningside University, Chris Aragon of Morningside and Justin Parsons of Morningside.

WORTHINGTON, Minn. — Four former Creston wrestlers competed in the Worthington Open Saturday, hosted by Minnesota West Community College.

Competitors from the Morningside University team were Justin Parsons (125 pounds), Chris Aragon (149) and Kaden Street (174). The Ellsworth Community College team included Triston Barncastle (165).

Aragon and Barncastle reached the consolation championship match in their weight classes. Street earned a victory by fall in the consolation bracket. Parsons also had a victory by fall in the event.

The tournament summary by weight classes for the former Panthers:

At 125 pounds, Justin Parsons of Morningside pinned Austin Kaalekahi of Ellsworth in 1:49; pinned by Logan Graf of South Dakota State in 2:11; and pinned by Chris Compton of Ellsworth in 1:14.

At 149 pounds, Chris Aragon of Morningside was pinned by Brady Hollen of Ridgewater College in 4:02; pinned Aedon Oberdorfer of Augsburg in 1:57; pinned Ty Borge of Minnesota West in 1:48; and pinned by Matt Sarbo of Iowa Central in 2:16 in the consolation championship match.

At 165 pounds, Triston Barncastle of Ellsworth Community College was decisioned by Kaden Broer of Northern State, 9-6; pinned Sebastian Zamorano of St. Cloud State in 3:57; pinned Joseph Kallevig of Minnesota West in 2:43; and decisioned by Brock Fettig of South Dakota, 13-7, in the consolation championship match.

At 174 pounds, Kaden Street of Morningside was pinned by Bryce Dagel of St. Cloud State in 1:16; pinned Riling Mayginnes of Ellsworth in 5:23; and pinned by Cooper French of Nebraska in 1:18. French placed sixth.
