Spartans extend lead in second half

A strong second half gave the Southwestern men’s basketball team a 83-66 win Nov. 17 over visiting Simpson junior varsity.

The Spartans scored 50 second half points after they already had a 33-25 lead at halftime.

Kyren Angelo came off the bench to lead Southwestern with 21 points. He was a perfect 7-7 from the 3-point line. He didn’t attempt any other shot. He also finished with two steals and a team-high six assists..

A.J Doctor and Faith Huyuk each finished with 11 points. Doctor was 4-9 shooting from the field and 1-4 from the 3-point line. He made both of his free throw attempts. Huyuk made 5-11 shots from the field and was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Donnary Fontenot scored eight points for Southwestern. Patrick Worrrell had a team high six rebounds.

As a team, Southwestern finished with 29-64 shooting plus 11-28 at the 3-point line.The Spartans made 14-21 free throws and committed 10 turnovers.

Individual statistics for Simpson were not available.

Southwestern (3-4) returns to action 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 vs. North Central Missouri.
