Paup, Davis make ICGA all state teams

Two CNA coverage area girl high school basketball players were named this week to their respective class first team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Creston senior Doryn Paup was named to the Class 4A team. Others on the team include Jenna Hopp, Glenwood; Emma Miner, Dallas Center-Grimes; MaKayla Boatman, North Polk; Alliyah Thompson, Ballard; Yazmeen Whitsitt, Decorah; Brooklyn Stanley, Bishop Heelan and Libby Fandel, Cedar Rapids Xavier. Adams Jones of Dallas Center-Grimes was name 4A coach of the year.

Paup ranks third in Creston five-player history with 1,054 career points. Her 455 points as a senior this season ranks second all-time, and she set a new school record in per-game scoring average (21.7). She also ranks sixth in career rebounds and second in career steals. From the field she shot 55.39% during her career, which ranks second.

Nodaway Valley junior Lindsey Davis was on the 2A all-state team. Others include Payton Petersen, Dike-New Hartford; Addison Klosterbuer, Central Lyon; Jadyn Petersen, Dike-New Hartford; Madison Brouwer, Sibley-Ocheyedan; Desta Hoogendoorn, Central Lyon, Whitney Klyn, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Riley Batta, South Central Calhoun.

Davis averaged 25.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.7 steals per game. Her 591 points on the season finishes tops in Class 2A. Her field goal attempts (479) and makes (221) are also leading stats. Davis led the Wolverines with 60 3-pointers on the season.

Bruce Dall of Dike-New Hartford was named 2A coach of the year.
