Mount Ayr edges out Ogden

With less than a minute left in the game, the Raiders (8-1) were down 24-21 against the Ogden Bulldogs (6-3).

After a successful drive downfield, Mount Ayr senior quarterback Jaixen Frost completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to senior Braydon Pierson to edge out the Bulldogs in a close 27-24 victory to advance in the playoffs.

While Mount Ayr had more success on the ground, logging 134 rushing yards on 38 carries, Ogden dominated through the air. Ogden junior quarterback Colby Rohe went 18/33 for 404 yards and three touchdowns.

Senior Drew Ehlen led the Raiders in receiving with five receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown; however, he broke his collarbone during the game.

Senior Jayden Knight, Frost and Pierson all came away with interceptions in the matchup. Frost lead the team in solo tackles with four.

Mount Ayr travels to face the undefeated Lynnville-Sully Hawks Friday in the second round of Class A playoffs.
