Paup sets school record in blowout win

Doryn Paup had a truly happy birthday. In addition to outscoring Red Oak, Paup set the Panthers’ single game record for scoring with 39 points in Creston’s 79-38 over Red Oak on Monday. Paup also finished with 10 steals and eight rebounds.

“I knew coming into this game this game that I wanted to break that record,” Paup said. “I couldn’t have done it with out my teammates. Obviously they had some great passes to me and they were pushing me to get it I can’t thank them enough.”

“She got a lot of good looks and a lot of help, all around team win,” Creston coach Tony Neubauer added.

Bri Fields matched her jersey number and scored 23 points. Creston improves to 6-7 and Red Oak falls to 0-13.

Creston led 12-8 at the five minute mark of the first quarter and closed the first half on a 42-10 run.

“Kids did a good job, we kind of expected we could do that tonight,” Neubauer said. “Everybody got a chance to play tonight.”

Aleah Calvin finished with eight points and Keely Coen had three.

A trio of Panthers finished with two points: Sophie Hagle, Gracie Hagle and Josie Mahan.

The Panthers jumped out to a 8-2 run over the first four minutes of the third quarter and finished the third quarter with a 64-25 lead.

Creston has two more games this week, a home game against Shenandoah tonight and a road game at Kuemper Catholic on Friday.

“All in all a good win and we’re excited to play Shenandoah,” Neubauer said.
