Youth wrestling

The Express Wrestling Club youth tournament will be held Friday, Jan. 14, at Creston Community High School.

Entry fee is $20 if registered by 10 p.m. on Jan. 13. Entry fee at the door is $30. Online registrations are available at TrackWrestling.com.

Boys and girls pre-kindergarten and kindergarten weigh-in is 4-5 p.m. with wrestling beginning at 5:30 p.m. Boys and girls first-second and third-fourth grade divisions weigh-in is 5-6 p.m with wrestling starting at 6:30 p.m. Boys and girls fifth-sixth and seventh-eighth grade divisions weigh-in is 6-7 p.m. with wrestling starting at 7:30 p.m.

Elks Hoop Shoot

Qualifiers from Creston and several area school districts will compete in the annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw competition Saturday at Southwestern Community College.

Ages 8-9 will begin shooting at 8:20 a.m. followed by ages 10-11 at approximately 9:15 a.m. and ages 12-13 at approximately 10 a.m.

Pickleball league

The Winter Doubles Pickleball League will be held on Thursday nights at Southern Prairie Family Fitness Center, beginning Jan. 20.

Registration deadline is 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14. A “try it” night for those interested in learning more about the sport will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13.

Cost is $50 per team and the league is open to men and women of all ages. If there is enough interest, two leagues will be offered.

Men’s basketball

Men’s basketball league is scheduled to begin on Sunday, Jan. 16 at Southern Prairie Family Fitness Center.

Games will be played on Sunday afternoons (2 p.m. and 3 p.m.) and Wednesday nights (6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) Pickup games will be played Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Cost is $150 and the league champion team will get their registration money back in gift certificates to the establishment of their choice. Participants must be 18 years old or older and out of high school. SWCC student discounts apply.

Family night

Family Night in the Pool is scheduled 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Southern Prairie Family Fitness Center. Other family nights are scheduled Feb. 9 and March 9, both at 6:30 p.m.
