Creston boys compete in talent-filled LC meet

COUNCIL BLUFFS — Creston boys track and field entered into a tough field of teams from larger western Iowa schools in a coed track meet Tuesday night at Lewis Central High School.

The Panthers had three events that medaled on the night.

The 4x800-meter team (Austin Evans, Dylan Calvin, Ty Morrison and Brandon Briley) were seventh, finishing in 9:32.09. Also on the track, Briley was eighth in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:10.87.

In the field events, junior Chris Wilson was eighth in the discus, with a throw of 121 feet, 4 inches.

Despite having only three event wins on the night, the host Titans won the boys side of their meet, scoring 128.5 points. Glenwood was second, finishing with 112 points, and Treynor was third with 105.

Underwood, Atlantic and Sioux City East rounded out the top six teams.

Creston now turns its attention to a coed meet it will participate in Thursday at Griswold, while the Panther girls will travel to Carroll for a meet. Next Tuesday, the boys travel to Carlisle.
