Jordan Camp, Southwestern Community College head baseball coach and assistant athletic director, resigned his position Wednesday. The resignation was effective immediately.
Camp had been the head coach for the baseball program since June 2019. He came to Southwestern from Indian Hills in Ottumwa where he served as assistant coach.
According to Kim Bishop, Southwestern athletic director, Blake Peterson will be moving from his position as assistant coach to interim head coach to finish the 2021-22 academic year.
Peterson is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, and came to Southwestern with prior coaching experience at the NJCAA and NCAA levels. As a player, Peterson ranks 12th in career victories on the mound and was named All-Central Region Second Team and All-Conference Second Team during his time at Luther, pitching for the Norse. Prior to coming to Southwestern, Peterson was an assistant coach at Simpson College.
He will be assisted by Graduate Assistant Jake Brewer, who started with the Spartans in August 2021.
Bishop said the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
