After a defense-heavy first half, Creston (3-6) and Central Iowa United (1-7-2) battled it out in the second half Monday, the Panthers winning 4-3.
Creston sophomore Joaquin Flores kicked off game scoring with a shot 13 minutes into the game.
The Panthers continued to press on offense, keeping the ball primarily in Trojan territory.
With only three minutes left in the half, United junior Gage Byal found an opening and scored for the Trojans.
The half ended in a tie, the remaining five goals coming in the second half.
Panthers’ goalie Baret Lane allowed three goals, saving nine shots.
Creston put up nine shots on goal, four of them finding the mark.
Flores was three-of-five and logged an assist to senior Justin Loudon in the second half.
Also taking shots on goal were sophomores Carlos Page and Jace Purdum.
Tuesday the Panthers hosted Glenwood for senior night. Photos and story to appear in a future CNA.
Thursday, the Creston boys travel to Kuemper Catholic for a makeup game before hosting the Panther Invitational Saturday.
The regular season ends Monday at Red Oak.
