Creston’s Baker signs with Spartans

Southwestern Community College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Reggie Kindle announced Tuesday the signing of Brance Baker to the program for the 2021-22 season.

Baker, who graduated from Creston Community High School in May 2021, signed his National Letter of Intent with the Spartans this afternoon. The son of Brad and Becky Baker graduated with honors from CCHS, was class valedictorian and was a Governor Scholar.

Baker was named the 2021 CCHS Outstanding Male Athlete. In basketball, Baker was named to the honorable mention Hawkeye 10 All-Conference team twice and the second-team Hawkeye 10 All-Conference team twice. Sidelined by injury for most of his senior year, Baker averaged 10.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in seven games for the Panthers. Baker also played football and soccer for the Panthers during his high school career.
